• Marissa C. Nacis of Laupahoehoe graduated this spring from Chaminade University of Honolulu.

She received a Master of Business Administration and finished with a 4.0 GPA. She received her bachelor’s degree in 2006 from the University of Hawaii at Hilo.

• Kyra Jones of Holualoa graduated this spring with a Master of Education degree with a major in international counseling from Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa.

• Akoakoanuimaikalani Alexander Paleka-Kennedy of Hilo graduated in May from Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas, with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in criminal justice.

• Sarah Margaret Kelly of Hawi graduated in May from Wheaton College in Wheaton, Ill., with a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in communication with an interpersonal communication concentration and a minor in English.

• Laurie Meguro and Michael Morikawa of Hilo were among more than 900 students to receive degrees from George Fox University in Newberg, Ore., during spring commencement.

Meguro received a Master of Arts degree in clinical psychology and Morikawa graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in athletic training.

Morikawa also was named to the George Fox dean’s list for the spring semester. To be named to the dean’s list, students must earn a 3.5 GPA or above on 12 or more hours of graded work.

• Welina Tong of Mountain View was named to the spring semester dean’s list at Midland University in Fremont, Neb.

• Nicholas Milone of Kailua-Kona was named to the spring semester dean’s list at the University of Delaware in Newark, Del.

• Arah Ko of Keaau and Jozua van Bakel of Kailua-Kona were named to the spring semester dean’s list at Wheaton College in Wheaton, Ill.

• Benjamin Robbins of Kailua-Kona, a student at Wheaton College in Wheaton, Ill., recently received the Wheaton Engineering Scholars Award.

The award is a merit-based honor given to incoming freshman engineering students. The award is renewable for a second year, pending good academic performance.

• Lynn Erdelt-Reinert, a health services administration major from Kailua-Kona, was named to the spring semester dean’s list at Upper Iowa University in Fayette, Iowa.
